AVTC supports -
At the 2017 Annual General Meeting, the Club decided to introduce a club charity which members could support via their triathlon activities. In 2018, Macmillan Cancer Support was chosen. In 2019, we will be supporting Mind, the mental health charity.
We are planning a number of activities throughout the year to raise money but also to encourage physical activity as a valuable way of contributing to mental health.
We started on the 1st January 2019 by supporting REDJanuary, a community initiative in partnership with Oxfordshire Mind. This initiative encourages you to support your mental health by doing something active every day during this characteristically tough month. The Club supported REDJanuary by opening up some of our training sessions to non-club members throughout the month, and also raised £185 as a result of members taking part in the REDJanuary challenge - to exercise every day.
More activities planned soon, watch this space.

Macmillan Cancer Support
At the 2017 AGM, the Club decided to introduce a club charity so that members could support a charity through their triathlon activities. Macmillan Cancer Support was chosen as it was a charity that club member Lorraine Keelan had chosen to support during her cancer treatment. Sadly Lorraine passed away at the beginning of this year. The Club had already lost Ailsa Sparkes to cancer and it has been with great pride that we can remember our members through raising money for their chosen charity.
During the past year, club members have organised and taken part in five events: Macmillan Cheltenham All Out Swim (2km and 5km swims), an archery afternoon with Lorraine, club members and friends, the London Landmarks Half Marathon, the London Marathon and the Club Charity Run at Berinsfield. A total of £4,705 has been raised and is an amazing start to the club’s charity work.
