Afternoon all

 

Hope you are all well and enjoyed the weekend.

 

Couple of things before training for this week:

 

Over the next week, we expect to be able to confirm the details for the Club Champs.  It WILL be the Good Friday Tri at Radley College (sprint distance)and we will be able to provide a discount and subsidised entry.  We're just firming up the entry requirements and will share as soon as possible.  However, in order for us to get the best discount for you, you will need to enter before 25 November.  You don't need to do anything yet apart from think about whether you want to enter - in the next few days, I will confirm entry requirements as well as the discount code that you need.

 

Christmas party details will also be confirmed soon, and as part of the party we have the Chairman's awards. One of the awards is for AVTC Members Member where everyone within the club votes for anyone they want to recognise. This could be because they provide you with inspiration, they have provided you with motivation, they made you feel welcome when you joined, they did something for you that you weren't expecting, or they do something for the club that you feel is worth recognition.

One of the rules is that you can't be up for the award if you won it the previous year....the current holder of the cup is Andy Male, so no votes for him and he has the pleasure of receiving the nominations and getting to present the award (it remains anonymous until it is presented). Please have a think about who is going to be worthy of your vote and I shall confirm the details in the next week.

 

We've also seen a large number of new members turning up for sessions on a trial basis (9 at last weeks interval session!), so if you see someone you don't recognise, please do introduce yourselves and say hello...we all remember how nervous we felt at our first session.

 

Training for this week is as follows:

 

Tuesday - 19:30hrs - Indoor Spin - Park Club Gym, Milton, OX14 4RS

Meet in the reception area 5 minutes before.

Always a fun session, using indoor spin bikes. Based to music this popular class is a great way to improve your cycling fitness without having to go out in the cold and wet. The class is as hard as you want to make it as the bikes have adjustable resistance that you can set to your own required effort level. Be sure to bring a big drink and a towel. The pedals on the bikes are suitable for Trainers or they are compatible with Shimano SPD system (mountain bike cleat).

 

Thursday - 19:00-20:00 / 20:00-21:00hrs - Pool Swim - Abingdon White Horse Leisure centre, OX14 3PJ

£3 payable to coaching staff on poolside (do not pay at reception)

Please come along to your usual session for a structured swim session that will improve your fitness and technique. If you have them bring along your fins, hand paddles etc. Also bring a drink.
