Some more info on the Open Water Swimming for Beginners sessions below.

Open Water Swimming for Beginners Monday 8th and 15th May 18:30 Queensford Lakes, Berinsfield

The first of our open water swim sessions will soon be here. Don't miss out on this opportunity to get in the lake with the support of your delightful coaches.

Yes, it will probably be a bit chilly, we'll walk you through getting over this. Yes there are fish in there, but they are more scared of you than you are of them. ( I've never seen one). You won't be on your own, others will be getting in for the first time or after a break from the lake.

From getting your wetsuit on to getting it off, we the coaches will be there, giving you hints, tips along with a bucket full of confidence so you enjoy getting into and swimming in the lake.

Nothing, beats the feeling of completing your first open water swim. Oh apart from completing your first open water triathlon, welling up now thinking about getting out the lake at Blenheim, still chuffed with that 2 years on.

Don't put it off for another week, month, season, get down to the lake on Monday 8th and 15th May. You won't regret it. I've participated in these sessions a couple of times and found them invaluable.

To get you started here's your first tip. Wear marigolds when you're putting your wetsuit on, it will help you grip it better & stop any fingernail damage.

For some more valuable tips and pointers check out these excellent blogs written by coach Sorrel.

This is important; to allow you to swim at the lake you will need to register for a NOWCA wrist band. This is a safety register to ensure that you have a safe swim and the safety crew know that you are safely out of the water. It will cost £10 for the whole season. Follow this link and register. Your band will then be waiting for your first session at the lake. Here is the link

Please arrive in plenty of time to register with the lake staff. The swim will be the standard £5 lake entry fee. Your coaching will be supplies free.

The plan is to start the session at 18:45. Do NOT put your wetsuit on as we will cover how to do this correctly.

Look out for an event invite on the Facebook page and accept if you intend coming So we have an approximate idea of numbers.

The idea is that we get you guys comfortable swimming in Open Water so you will be happy joining the great fun club breakfast swim on Sunday 21st May.

We look forward to hopefully making you happy to get into the beautiful non chemical water at the lake.
