Membership officer committee role
There is a committee role currently available as Tamsin Evans is stepping down as Membership Officer. The role entails maintaining & renewing membership for everyone at the club as well as being the welcoming contact for any new club members. If anyone is interested in volunteering for the role then please let me or the committee know firstname.lastname@example.org is the best email to use or PM me your interest to me on Facebook.
I’d like to thank Tamsin for all her hard work. She has done such a great job these past 18 months; these are some seriously big shoes to fill!
Open-water swim session (in the pool)
As we are at the start of the open water season, for those who are unfamiliar with it, it can feel very liberating to swim in a lake or the sea.
This Thursdays swim for both sessions we will have no lane ropes in our end of the pool to give that open water feel, it will be a chance to practise some of the skills and techniques needed for open water. This does mean less distance than the last few weeks (for one week only).
With the season now approaching don't forget to get your club kit, there is still some sizes in stock or put in and pay for your order ready to be placed at the end of April. Email your kit man Danny on email@example.com. You can see what kit is available on the club website.
This year's Club Champs is one race - the Newbury Triathlon - which is on Sunday 2nd September. We have organised our own wave but we need at least 20 people to enter from the club to secure this by the end of May. It is a race that always fills but they are holding these spots currently for us.
The 2018 Newbury Triathlon is based at Northcroft Leisure Centre in the heart of Newbury. Centred around the 75-yard outdoor heated swimming pool, there is plenty of space for spectators to watch both the swim and transition antics. The race distances are 300yd Swim/22km Bike/5km Run and you will receive a free quality running t-shirt for taking part. Find out more and enter via the Race Nation.
Entry prices: Senior: Non-BTF member (18+) - £36.00 Senior: BTF member (18+) - £31.00 Junior: Non-BTF member (Aged 16 to 18) - £36.00 Junior: BTF member (Aged 16 to 18) - £31.00
This week's training
Monday - 7pm - Run Social - Tilsley Park

Whilst this is not a coached session, it will help develop your running endurance - we take a 10km (ish) route around Abingdon (shorter routes are available, 5km and 7km) and run in ability groups. No-one will be left behind and there is ALWAYS someone to run with. A great way to keep your running up AND have a mini social at the same time. Win Win!
Tuesday - 7pm - Track Running - Tilsley park, Abingdon
Pay at reception, meet 5mins before in reception. Dress appropriately for the weather, bring a drink and a way of timing yourself if you can.
The most effective way to improve your speed and technique. The session is suitable for all abilities, so if you haven't been to the track before come along and quash any apprehensions, you will work hard, improve your running and will have fun.
Thursday - Pool Swim -6:50-8:00pm and 7:50-9:00pm - White Horse Leisure Centre, Abingdon
