Race Dates and Raffle Reminder

Welcome to this week's newsletter!

The sun is (slightly) stronger, days are (getting!) longer, temperatures are - albeit unexpectedly for this time of year - mild(er). Spring is fast approaching, as is triathlon season.

So feast your eyes on our local races and key dates schedule.

Dates of note include Chilly Duathlon (10th March), Radley Tri (29th March), White Horse Challenge (21st April), Town and Gown (12th May), Blenheim Tri (1st June) and London Tri (28th July).

Roll up! Roll up! Amazing prizes to be won

As flagged in the last newsletter, there's over £1500 worth of kit to be won in our first charity fundraiser of 2024, an Air Ambulance UK (AAUK) pre-season kit raffle. Top prize is a £269 Yonda Spook wetsuit! Also up for grabs is a Proviz running jacket, a Zone 3 gift voucher, a pair of made-to-measure goggles, and much (much) more.

Tickets are on sale NOW. The draw will be held at the next Club Social on 23rd February. We're using a raffle app rather than our JustGiving page to make all the admin easier. Here's the link. Please buy lots - all proceeds go to AAUK.

End of February drinks reminder

Join us for the aforementioned draw and end of month drinks at the Crown and Thistle from 7:30pm on 23rd February. Here's to another fun-filled evening...

...and don't forget to join the AVTC buddy finder on WhatsApp.

As always, if you would like to make any contributions to this newsletter or to share a blog post, please email AVTCcommittee@gmail.com and we'll be happy to include it.

This fortnight's training schedule

For the full season training schedule and more information about the locations of the training session, see the AVTC club website.

Mondays

12th February, 19th February
Running club (uncoached)

6.30-7.30pm, Tilsley Park, Abingdon (included with fees)

Monday running club is a great chance to develop your endurance and set your own weekly targets. Join us for a group warm-up then, if pace-matching allows, run together on the 10k or 5k route. Sometimes you may have to run on your own, but there will always be someone to cool down with you at the end. Whilst this is a non-coached session, lots of members say it helps them to keep-up their running and improves their stamina and speed.

26th February
